BEFORE YOU INVITE YOUR PEOPLE

Share a WhatsApp wedding invitation link

A WhatsApp wedding invitation link opens a page with the date, venue, celebration details, and a way to RSVP. Create the page, copy its link, and paste it into a personal message or a relevant family group. Guests can reply in their browser without installing an app or creating an account. Add a short welcome and a reply-by date so the message asks for a clear next step. The link can carry updated details after you share it.

Who this is for

This approach suits couples whose guest list already lives in WhatsApp conversations: cousins in India, friends abroad, and relatives coordinating travel in a family group. A link lets everyone return to the same details instead of searching a long chat for the latest address. It also gives the host a place to review replies rather than counting reactions to a message.

Choose the channel each guest actually uses. An NRI guest may prefer email for travel information while a local relative expects a personal WhatsApp note. You can send the same invitation link through either channel. For someone who cannot use a browser comfortably, call them and arrange their reply directly; a digital invitation should make the welcome easier.

How it works

Start by writing the practical details before decorating the page. In Harmony, the host can customize colors and personal details, add custom RSVP questions, and share one event link. Keep the guest task small: read the invitation, say whether they can come, and answer only the questions you need for hosting.

  1. Create the invitation with the couple’s names, date, full venue address, and the local start time. Label the ceremony and reception separately in your written schedule.
  2. Add a reply-by date and questions about food preferences and accompanying guests. Say who is invited in the message rather than assuming a forwarded link explains it.
  3. Copy the published link into WhatsApp. Write a personal opening, the couple’s names, the date, and a direct request to RSVP using the page.
  4. Open a test message on a phone. Check the address and RSVP journey, then send it to the intended people and review replies in the guest list.

What to include in the message

Keep the first lines useful even if WhatsApp does not show a link preview. Put your names, what you are inviting the recipient to, and the wedding date in ordinary message text. Preview appearance can vary with the app and device; do not make an image or preview card the only place you put the venue or deadline.

For a shared group, explain whether everyone in the group is invited and whether the invitation extends to their household. Ask for one clear reply per invited party, using a recognizable name. Avoid posting a personal venue address into unrelated groups. A public event link can be forwarded, so sharing deliberately matters more than assuming a group message stays in that group.

For a mehendi, sangeet, ceremony, and reception, label each part with its own date, time, and location in the page description. A written schedule is not a promise of separate permissions or automatic sub-event tracking. If different people are invited to different functions, make that distinction explicit in the personal messages and confirm attendance directly where needed.

A worked example

This is an illustrative message, not a customer invitation: “Dear family, we would love you to celebrate Asha and Rohan’s wedding on 14 February at Lotus House, Pune. The ceremony begins at 4 pm and reception at 7 pm, all times local to Pune. Please open [invitation link] for the address and RSVP by 20 January, including your party size and food preferences.”

Suppose the reception venue changes after you send that message. Edit the details on the invitation page, keep the same event URL, and send a fresh WhatsApp note: “The reception is now at Garden Hall. Please check the updated address at [invitation link]. The ceremony time is unchanged.” Updating the page does not itself tell every guest that something changed.

When a relative forwards the invitation to an invited household, ask them to include the welcome and deadline too. A bare link without context can look unfamiliar. For guests coming from another country, write the month in words and identify the venue city; a date like 02/03 can be read differently across countries.

When not to use this

If the result you want is a thirty-to-sixty-second animated wedding video, work with a video maker or freelancer. A link-and-RSVP page solves a different job: keeping readable details and replies together. You can choose a separate creative format for the announcement, but still need to decide where guests should answer.

A link also does not replace personal conversations with guests who need travel help or cannot respond online. Do not assume a delivered WhatsApp message means an invitation has been read or accepted. This workflow describes copying a link yourself; it makes no claim about WhatsApp Business API delivery, automated broadcasts, or guaranteed response rates.

Frequently asked questions

Can guests reply inside WhatsApp?

The link opens an invitation page, often in the app’s browser. Guests RSVP on that page without a Harmony account. Test the journey on your phone, and offer the regular browser if a guest has trouble.

Should I send the link to a group or individually?

Use a group only when the invitation applies to the people in it. Personal messages make household scope and different function invitations clearer. Keep the same deadline and event details across messages.

Do I need to resend after a venue change?

Keep the event URL and edit the page details. Then send a clear update with the link so guests know to look again. Changing the event URL itself can break the earlier link.
